IPL Betting Scam Hits HDFC Bank
March 05, 2025

A major fraud case has emerged at an HDFC Bank branch in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh, where account holders have alleged that bank employees embezzled lakhs of rupees from their accounts. The victims claim that the embezzled funds were used for IPL betting, with some reporting missing funds from their fixed deposits and others finding their accounts empty despite depositing cheques and cash.
More than six account holders have filed complaints regarding embezzlement from their accounts, with allegations of fake credit cards, fixed deposits, self-checks, and online transactions being used to perpetrate the fraud. The affected customers have approached the authorities, including the Collector's office, which has assured an investigation and subsequent action. The Collector has ordered an investigation into the matter, which has brought the banking system under scrutiny.
The HDFC Bank branch in Betul has been involved in controversies related to similar complaints in the past, but no major investigation has been conducted against it to date. The continuous fraud against bank customers has raised concerns about the security of the banking system, with victims hoping to recover their lost money through the investigation and subsequent action.
