NYC Startup Program Expands
March 05, 2025

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has announced the selection of 75 early-stage startups for the fourth installment of the Founder Fellowship program. Since its launch in 2022, the program has supported over 250 entrepreneurs across 168 startups, raising over $22 million in funding. The program aims to drive equitable growth in NYC's tech startup ecosystem by providing access to industry connections, venture capital, and mentorship.
This year's program will receive nearly $1 million in capital commitments from private sector partners, with an additional $375,000 in OpenAI credits. The selected startups will be divided among five program operators, each providing unique resources and support. The operators include Chloe Capital, Company Ventures, Gold House Ventures, Newlab, and Visible Hands. The program will also provide benefits from NYCEDC's startup ecosystem partners, including OpenAI and the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation.
The Founder Fellowship program has shown significant success, with alumni achieving notable milestones, such as winning major prizes and securing investments. The program's focus on diversity and inclusion has also led to a diverse group of participants, with approximately 80% of teams having BIPOC founders and nearly two-thirds having female founders. The NYCEDC's investment in the program demonstrates its commitment to driving economic growth and innovation in the city.
